Testimony

After aimlessly wandering for the first twenty years of my life, I found my home and purpose in North Carolina. Almost immediately I was invited to church. Within two months I gave my life to Jesus and was baptized.

In the following decade, many trials drew me closer to Jesus. The most prominent of these involved my children. You see, my daughter was born prematurely at 26 weeks and at only 1 lb. 11 oz. Then, at five days old, she was given a 1% chance of surviving. We saw many miracles done that year. My son was eight weeks premature, but healthy, and was released within days. At the age of two he was diagnosed with a learning disorder, later tested as autistic.

Two decades have passed with many hills and valleys along the way, and not just physical and mental ones but spiritual as well. Sometimes I’m so busy doing work for Christ that I forget to stop and nurture myself. So, I take a breath, say a prayer, read my Bible, and sometimes just sit quietly for a few moments to get back on track.

About Rene

Rene married her husband, Mark, in 1991. Their daughter, Megan, is 24, and their son, Daniel, is 21. In addition to family being a top priority, Jesus is also part of her daily life.

Stepping out of her comfort zone 20 years ago, Rene went to work at a local Christian School. There, she starts each day with prayer for her co-workers and students. They integrate the Bible into their classes, and Rene cherishes that opportunity to be a witness to the next generation. She acknowledges that she will fall short of who she needs to be sometimes, and because I know that, she says she relies on Jesus to work through her.
