Testimony
What can I tell you about me that has any real value? I know where I will spend eternity. That statement is all that really matters.
I got saved when I was 6 years old in an Assemblies of God church at a revival. I then proceeded to judge all those so-called Christians around me that were not living up to my standard over the next 14 years. However, something terrible then happened. I began to sin blatantly and boldly. As one habitual sin led to another, I finally crossed the line. You know the line. The line where Jesus could not want, or use, or love me anymore. My misery really started at that point. I was so miserable. I could not go to church or pray because I felt convinced that God would not hear me, and that He certainly did not want to hear me. He was done with me forever.
Only, He was not. The hole in my soul that only God could fill continued to be there, and He continued to call. He wanted me back. Why? Why would He want me? I was spoiled goods. Ruined! Beyond rescue! Only, I was not. God called to me gently, sweetly, and irresistibly. I started going back to church believing I could never be of any service to Him, but at least I could sit on a pew.
As I sat in church, I learned God loved me no matter what. I learned He wanted me no matter what. I learned God used murderers, liars, thieves, and lowest of the lows, tax collectors. I learned, simply, grace—God’s grace.
Bear with me here and make a tight fist. Hold it for 10 seconds. Do you feel your nails cutting into your palms? Now un-clench your fists. Do you see your nail imprints? God holds you that tightly. Through all your mistakes, He holds you. You squirm and struggle and maybe even think He has shaken you out of His hand. You are inscribed, like your nail print in your palm. Only your name never leaves His hand. I am His. The most important thing I can tell you is you can be too. Eternity awaits. Come with!
